Dr. Richard Kim's Background
Dr. Kim was raised in New Jersey. He left for Rhode Island, where he completed his undergraduate studies at Brown University. He returned to New York to attend medical school at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He again returned to Brown University to complete a six-year coordinated plastic surgery residency. During his residency, Dr. Kim completed externships at the Boston Children's Hospital/Harvard University focusing on congenital hand surgery, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia/University of Pennsylvania focusing on pediatric plastic surgery, and at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center/Cornell University focusing on microvascular reconstructive surgery. Afterwards, he joined the faculty in the Brown University Plastic Surgery Department at Rhode Island Hospital. In that time, Dr. Kim oversaw the plastic surgery hand and trauma clinic. Dr. Kim then returned to New York to complete an orthopaedic microvascular / hand surgery fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University.
Currently, Dr. Kim resides in New Jersey with his wife and three children. When not at work, Dr. Kim's main enjoyment is spending time with his family and enjoying his role as a husband and a father.
